Ana
Alvarado born in Argentina in 1957.
Studied visual arts and puppet theatre.
In 1987,after studying with the director Ariel Bufano, she became part
of the Marionette Group at the Teatro San Martín- Buenos Aires,
with whom she remains a member. Since then Ana has devoted her time to
working with objects, and has discovered a theatre language that allows
her to use both: her visual and theatre skills.
In addition to writing, directing and performing, Ana is also an academic.
She received a scholarship from the Marionette International Institute
in Charleville- Mézieres, France.
In 1989 she co-founded the theatre group El Periférico de Objetos.
As a part of this group she has participated in aproximately fifty international
theatre festivals in Europe, the United States and various parts of Latinoamérica:
( Kunsten Festival des Arts Brussels, B.A.M. New York, Melbourne
Festival, Walker Art Center- Minneapolis, Holland Festival, Festival des
Amériques-Montreal, Festival Cervantino de Méjico, Festival
de Otoño de Madrid, Festival Internacional de Teatro de Caracas,
etc
)
As a part of this group she has received numerous prizes and accolades:
Konex, ACE, Ollantay, María Guerrero, etc
As an author she has written extensively for chidren and won the Prize
for Chidren´s Theatre of The National Foundation of the Arts, Argentina
